Last few weeks I’ve been working on a holiday gift guide, but I realized, “I don’t give an ‘eff what people buy for presents!” It’s fun to buy gifts when I don’t know what to get a person because I get to buy things that I have wanted to buy (giving gifts when I know the perfect thing to give someone is fun for other reasons
). I realized I can just blog about things I like or think are cute with no pretext at all because who cares what generic shit I think someone should pick up for their mother or boyfriend.
So here are some things I’ve been lusting after.
First off, rings! Rings that hold perfume and rings that hold lip gloss have really be catching my eye lately. Maybe because I’ve stopped carrying a purse, I find myself wishing there were more affordable options when it came to wearable cosmetic containers; I’m imagining magnetic compact pendants that let you take cheek and eye looks with you everywhere! Maybe that will be my next DIY project…
But in the real world, my favorite on the high-end is the Michael Kors Very Hollywood Solid Perfume Cocktial Ring, which houses his Very Hollywood scent, with its notes of Mandarin, Gardenia, and Vetiver. It is a $40 Sephora exclusive, but it only comes in a non-adjustable size 7. A funkier option is the Juicy Loves Sephora Pave Lip Gloss Heart Ring, which has been reduced to $34 for, like, the last year. However, it too only comes in a size 7. I’m even digging, and will maybe actually pick up, the Victoria’s Secret PINK Me Up Lipgloss Ring. At only $7, these plastic rings come in pink, red, and a super cute yellow that can each house a variety of gloss shades.
In keeping with the lip gloss lust, there are a few hard to find brands that I have been resisting shelling out for on Amazon. I saw Gal Collection’s art nouveau inspired balms at a boutique in New England a few years ago and still rue not buying one then. Made in Madrid since 1898, they come in Violet, Red Currant, Peach, Vanilla, Orange, and Strawberry, just the sort of old-fashioned flavors I love. Their price varies but should be between $6 and $9. These glosses are real gems, especially for a lipgloss fiend!
TINte also makes glosses in vintagey tins with the added bonus of flavored-of-sodas! Cream Soda, Root Beer, Blackberry Jam, spicy pepper, Peppermint, Peaches and Cream, and Bubblegum. Each has a different sheer shade and comes in a slide top tin. They’re a bit on the pricy side at $14 each plus shipping, and what’s worse, Cherry Culture has been sold out of them FOREVER! Cherry Culture also let me down on the useless Cup Cake Gloss set from NYX. Tiny, and probably low quality, I shouldn’t want these $4 (for four) balms, but I was definetly dissapointed that they were sold out by the time I got to check out (I also almost bought a bottle of LA Girl Matte Flat Finish nailpolish in Turqouis…maybe next time).
Off on a weekend vay kay!
